Fun Workshops for Events & Parties

Hands-on activities that get people involved rather than simply watching — from circus skills and giant bubbles to magic, crafts, balloon modelling, dance and puppetry.

Entertainment you can join in with

Sometimes the best entertainment is something people can actually do. Our workshops give children, teenagers or adults the chance to try a new skill, make something, practise, laugh at the inevitable mistakes and enjoy the satisfaction when it finally works.

Ron and Hazel have delivered participatory activities at family fun days, community events, holiday programmes, parties, corporate events and other occasions. Based in Richmond, North Yorkshire, they work throughout Yorkshire, County Durham and the North East. Jolly Good Productions has been providing professional entertainment since 1990.

One workshop — or build an activity programme

A workshop can be booked as the main activity, run continuously as a drop-in attraction, delivered in timed sessions, or used between shows. Several activities can also be combined to create a varied programme.

This flexibility is particularly useful for family days and holiday events where visitors arrive and leave at different times.

Who are they for?

  • Family fun days and festivals
  • Community and council events
  • Holiday activities
  • Birthday parties
  • Corporate and team events
  • Shopping centres and visitor attractions
  • Clubs and organised groups
  • Mixed-age family audiences

Our fun workshops

Circus Skills

Juggling, plate spinning, balancing and other circus activities. Great for events because people can practise at their own pace and keep coming back for another try.

Giant Bubbles

Use specialist wands to create enormous bubbles. Highly visual, simple to understand and popular with children and adults. Best outdoors in suitable weather.

Magic Tricks

Learn simple effects with cards, rope, coins and other props, together with the presentation that turns a puzzle into a magic trick.

Crafts

Cutting, sticking, decorating and creating with a wide range of materials. Themes can be adapted for occasions such as Easter, Christmas, Halloween, seaside or seasonal events.

Balloon Modelling

Learn inflation, tying and basic twists before attempting balloon animals and other models. Particularly good for older children, teenagers and adults.

Dance

Hazel can lead beginner-friendly line dancing and party dances. Ideal for social groups, hen parties, themed events and occasions where you want everyone moving.

Puppetry

Explore puppet manipulation, character and performance using our puppets and props. Best as an indoor activity with suitable working space.

A firm favourite

Circus Skills Workshop

Circus skills are ideal for participatory entertainment because there is no single way to use them. At an event the workshop can be a drop-in activity, a scheduled session or a useful attraction between arena or stage shows.

Participants can try skills such as juggling and plate spinning, practise for as long as they like and move on to another activity. It appeals to different ability levels and can also be adapted for adult team-building, ice-breakers or friendly competitions.

For birthday parties, circus skills are particularly suitable for older children who want active entertainment rather than a traditional party show.

Giant Bubble Workshop

There is something irresistible about making a huge bubble. Participants use specialist wands and bubble mixture to experiment with different shapes and sizes, while spectators often enjoy watching almost as much as the people taking part.

Bubble making works best in an outdoor open space, but weather matters. Strong wind can make the activity impractical unless the site is very sheltered, so it is one workshop where conditions need to be considered.

Parents frequently end up having a go too — which is exactly the sort of relaxed family participation we like to encourage.

Quiet, creative entertainment

Craft Workshops

Crafts provide a useful contrast to louder or more active entertainment. Children can sit down, choose materials and make something of their own to take home.

We can theme the activity around the event. Previous themes have included Christmas, Easter, Halloween, spring, seaside, animals and monsters. We bring the agreed materials and ideas; the organiser provides a suitable warm, dry working area with tables and chairs.

Parents and carers are welcome to help, and children remain under the supervision of their accompanying adult.

Frequently asked questions

Can we book just one workshop?

Yes. A single activity can be booked on its own, or several workshops and shows can be combined into a larger entertainment programme.

Do workshops have to run as formal sessions?

No. Some activities work very well as continuous drop-in entertainment. Others can be delivered to a defined group at a set time. We can advise which format suits the activity and event.

What ages are the workshops suitable for?

It varies. Crafts can work with younger children with appropriate adult supervision, while circus skills, balloon modelling, magic and puppetry are generally more rewarding for older children, teenagers or adults. Tell us the age range when you enquire.

Can workshops be held outdoors?

Circus skills and bubbles can work outdoors in suitable conditions. Craft and puppetry need a dry indoor or properly covered environment. Weather and wind are particularly important for giant bubbles.

Do you provide the equipment?

Yes. We bring the specialist equipment and materials agreed for the workshop. Depending on the activity, the organiser may need to provide tables, chairs, shelter or an appropriate open space.

Can adults take part?

Absolutely. Circus skills, giant bubbles, magic, balloon modelling and dance can all work with adults, including corporate and team events.

Are these the same as your school workshops?

No. These are recreational workshops for parties, events and activity programmes. Curriculum-based activity days for primary schools are provided separately through Jolly Good Workshops for Schools website.

What information do you need for a quotation?

Please give us the date, venue or postcode, type of event, age range, expected numbers, available space, approximate timings and which activities interest you.
